Was The Captain A Bit Pissed?

I’m not sure what training a captain of a ship undergoes but surely they teach them to use their eyes and radar and watch out for the shore?
No doubt they do so I can only assume the captain of this beached ship was having a couple of shots to pass the time of day - what other good reason is there for sailing your ship onto the local beach?
