Unlucky 13 For Madonna

So Madonna hit the top spot in the UK singles chart for the thirteenth time yesterday with her latest offering ‘4 Minutes’.

Now all the headlines on and off line having been hyping this as lucky thirteen for the ‘Queen of Pop’ - believe that and I’ll call you a fool.

Madonna is a worker, I’ll give her that much but a singer she ain’t. I’ve no doubt she has sweated blood and tears to get where she is today but hard work always pays off.

Talent in the music business can be secondary to other key areas such as work ethic, good management and of course, the tightness of her knicker elastic. I’m not suggesting she slept her way to the top in the same fashion as Mariah but I bet she serviced her fair share of execs along the way.

The reason that Madonna achieved her 13th number one single in Britain can be revealed in one word - Timbaland.

Without doubt Timbaland is the hottest producer on the planet at the moment so who else would she turn to at a time when she can’t sell records with sex seeing as she is looking a little tattered these days. Well after all, she is 50 this year. Madonna, I hope you cherish your place at the top of the pile because I’m predicting this will be your last - until you die, when maybe a couple of re-releases might take you to the top again.
