Stickmanbangkok VS Notstickmanbangkok

There has been a bit of a hoo-haa on the expat blogs & community sites in Thailand this week.

Stickmanbangkok has a rival. Notstickmanbangkok.

Stickman is a Kiwi living and working in Thailand as an English teacher. He also runs a popular information site about Bangkok & Thailand from daily life to the naughty nightlife.

The original site had catagories such as Travel in Thailand, Expat Living in Bangkok, Teaching English in Bangkok, Thailand Picture Gallery, Stickman Weekly, Reader’s Submissions, Naughty Nightlife in Thailand & Bangkok Personality Interviews - you get the idea. Over time some sections have gone like Naughty Nightlife in Thailand whilst other have come, such as Jobs Offered In Thailand and Free Wi-fi Hot Spots In Thailand.

Popular sections of the site are the Stickman Weekly and the Readers Submissions. The site has various ads from businesses in Thailand to Google Adsense. Stickman also offers his services as a private investigator for guys who want to check up on their “girlfriends”.

It is a pretty good site, well run IMO.

So far so good.

In August Notstickmanbangkok.com appeared online.

Now when I came across this I thought it would just be a bit of fun, a few questions of what Stickman wrote or a few comments about the reader submissions but it hasn’t turned out that way. Over the past month or so the accusations & allegations have increased to an unimaginable and unbelievable level.

It has become a real life soap opera for the outsider looking in.

Like Stickman, Notstickman is using a pen name, John Galt. Stickman has chosen to keep his identity private, well he does do investigative work plus he teaches in a University - of course he’d want to remain anonymous. Well Mr Galt seems hell bent on changing all of that.

Notstickman has made many allegations of Stickman, he has posted photo’s of his work collegues, threatened to name and post a picture of him, made suggestions his online business is illegal and in no uncertain terms, in my opinion, he is blackmailing Stickman into choosing either to be a teacher or an online businessman. Notstickman claims he can’t possibly do both.

After the posting of the photos on notstickmanbangkok (which were later removed as was a letter to Stickman’s boss) Stickmanbangkok.com went offline. It did return, be it briefly, and is back now with minimal content after another short withdrawal.

To add to the mix another blog - Mangosauce - has a couple of posts on the subject and is allowing comments. It seems there are many Stick & Notstick lovers and haters plus Mr Galt has made a few comments himself. John Galt has been named as Keith Summers, a Thailand based businessman, and much has been said of his personal life. The owner/admin of Mangosauce however has censored anyone posting Stckman’s identity. Easy to see whose side of the fence the owner/admin is sitting on. A move I totally disagree with. Name none or name both. Add to that the site have posted pictures of Keith Summers in their posts. For me that site has ZERO credibility after such actions.

(I have chosen not to name Stickman as his identity has not yet been publicly published, I have however named Keith Summers as it is already online)

Notstickman is due to make another post tomorrow - Thursday. Will he name Stickman or not? Will he show his photo as he suggested? Who knows what he’ll do or say next and I think that is why he has gained readership. I’m unsure of his motives though jepordising someones job and livelihood is questionable regardless of what has been said or done that I am unaware of.

On the other hand if he has evidence to back up his claims then he should publish it - but hey that wouldnt be good marketing now, would it?

What the outcome of this online……….war, battle, feud………vendetta is unclear at this time.

One thing I’m certain of is this - there will be NO WINNER.

notstickmanbangkok.com will die a death before Xmas.
stickmanbangkok.com will never return as it was before.

stickboybangkok.com is born. I must have been looking into my crystal ball when I registered that back in June.

And just as an afterthought - it was bought with the intention of being used in a similar fashion to Schoochers (with ads of course)
