Rant: The New TV Detector
July 28, 2007
New TV Detector Can Reach Into Any Home - now that maybe true but can the licensing officers get past my 60Kg Rottweiler? (joke)
I simply refuse to buy a TV Licence out of principle.
My problem with the BBC Licence fee is this: in this day and age we have the technology to allow me to subscribe to their channels if I wanted them, why am I forced into buying a licence if I don’t want them?
This is not about the money either. The fact is I’m actually entitled to a half price licence due to my eye condition. (I’m partially blind - after a short read of this site you’ll probably come to the same conclusion as my mother did - to much wanking will make you go blind - well it has LOL) - joking aside I’m not a big TV fan.
Yep I have Sky TV (satellite) to watch WWE but this forces BBC channels upon me that I DON’T WANT. I have no other way of receiving TV, I don’t have an analogue aerial but I forgot, I have a mobile phone, I have a computer too - according to the last letter of bullshit they sent me they claimed that if a household has a mobile phone or a computer they are also required to have a licence too, wtf? So even if I threw my TV out I’d still need a licence!!! Fuck right off.
My mobile phone isn’t capable of anything more than a call or a text message. My pc has no TV tuner card so why do I need a licence for them?
The last officer who tried his luck at my door was sent packing with his tail between his legs as he needs me to identify myself before he can give me a formal warning and I’m a bit too alert for anyone chapping my door and asking for me by name. In my life if you chap my door it’s down to you to introduce yourself and state your business and at that point we can then move forward and if I choose to I will then identify who I am.
Oh I’m sure one day I will end up in Court about this, it’s inevitable but at that point perhaps the BBC can explain how and why they waiste so much money. Projects such as BBC Jam - a now closed education website they spent over half a million pounds on, their over the top internet presence that costs in excess of £1billion a year, huge salaries paid to TV presenters blah blah blah. Oh yeah and maybe someone will allow me to ask about my rights as a consumer and seeing as the UK is a member of the EU surely they have a law that will find that my Human Rights are being violated hehe!!!
