No iPhone For China
January 14, 2008
So the iPhone isn’t going to hit the streets of China anytime soon as talks between Apple and China Mobile are put on the back burner for the time being after the two failed to agree on the terms of a deal.
Two things come to mind: firstly do the Chinese really need the iPhone and secondly how many of China’s population can afford to buy one? There are a fair number of iPhone clones already available in China and I’m guessing they won’t cost as much as the iPhone - it sells for about £255 ($500) in the UK, that’s double the average monthly salary in China.
