Did You Download Firefox 3?
June 18, 2008
Today seen the launch of Firefox 3 - did you download it and help Mozilla set the world record for the most downloads in a 24 hour period?
At the time of writing it was heading towards 9 million downloads, and yes I did download and install it. To be honest I could care less about Mozilla setting records, I was just looking for the upgrade in the hope that all the talk about the memory leaks being fixed were true.
And so far so good on that front, it held up with 20+ tabs open, which at times with FF2 could be problematic as the browser ground to a snail’s pace and often just crashed.
Around 70% of my working day is spent looking at a browser and with all the handy extensions available for Firefox it is definately my browser of choice.
Of the 17 extensions I had installed on FF2 only three failed after upgrading to FF3 and fortunately two of them just needed newer versions - I was surprised that I had to do that manually. The only add-on that I’m waiting on to be upgraded is the very handy “save Images” extension. Hopefully the developer will issue an updated version sometime soon.
