Beware Of Internet Explorer 7

October 19, 2006

Today seen the official release for IE7. It’s been years in the making and includes built in search box and tabbed browsing plus a few security features. If you run WinXP and have updates switched on it will download automatically in the next few weeks or if you want to try it now you can download it manually from Microsoft - but beware.

I have read several reports of users having their PC’s crash and freeze with iinstallation problems.

Here is the fix to one of them. Have fun at attempting that if you’re not good at poking around the workings of Windows.

There is an alternative - use Firefox to browse the internet. Now not many will use it as they a) don’t know what it is, or b) they don’t like change, or c) they didn’t realise they could.

Internet Explorer is a browser, so is Firefox. They are both for viewing the www. You do have a choice. You don’t need to stick to what Uncle Bill Gates gives you with Windows.

To be honest I use both. I use IE6 (and no I won’t be updating) for general surfing and I use Firefox for work related stuff. There is no reason for not choosing one over the other, that’s just how I do it.
